INTRODUCTION

The aim of this WebQuest is to have students apply the Big6 research process and the keyword search strategy in accessing information from at least three resources including a book and magazine database, an electronic encyclopedia and the Internet. They will practice reading and scanning for information, and recording appropriate data about one specific native community. The students will integrate the information from the multiple sources, present the information using appropriate technologies and synthesize these facts into a well written report with an introductory and concluding sentence, and at least ten supporting details.

They will compare four distinct indigenous cultures and realize that communities solve the basic questions of food, clothing and shelter based on the environment in which they live.  The students will become aware of the fact that many indigenous people’s way of life is being threatened and that some may soon become extinct.

Finally, they will recommend a possible solution to this problem.
