Humorous stories that are full of exaggeration. Originally tall tales were used to show the values of the people living out in the wilderness when America was expanding into the unsettled West. Examples are the Paul Bunyan, Mike Fink, Pecos Bill, John Henry and Tugboat Annie stories.
