I researched Stegosaurus. Its nickname is Covered Lizard. Stegosaurus is 26-30 feet long and 9 feet tall. It weighs 6,800 pounds. Its physical characteristics are it very small head with a tiny brain and toothless beak, large flat bony triangular plates along its back.. It also has a heavy spiked tail for protection and walked on four legs. Its back legs were twice as long as its front legs. Stegosaurus was a plant eater which means it is a herbivore. Stegosaurus became extinct in the Jurassic period. Stegosaurus protects itself from its predators by the plates on its back and spikes on its tail. The habitat which Stegosaurus lived in had no polar ice. The climate was warm and moist. There were vast flooded areas, temperatures and sub tropical forests, and coral reefs. It lived on land. The locations where paleontologists have found Stegosaurus fossils are in western North America, Utah, Wyoming and Dinosaur Ridge, Colorado, Western Europe, Southern Africa. Stegosaurus fossils were found in 1876 by M.P. Felch. Paleontologist. Marsh named Stegosaurus in 1977.

Picture
your pet turning into a Stegosaurus. It
would be eight feet tall and weigh two tons!
His head would be sixteen inches long.
Stegosaurus also had spikes on his tail. Stegosaurus had shell like plates on its back.
Stegosaurus was a herbivore. It
ate only plants. We sometimes
call him “Plated Lizard”, “Armored Lizard” or “Roof Lizard”.
Stegosaurus had two brains the size of walnuts, one in his hip and one in
his head. His predators were large
meat-eaters from Western North America. Stegosaurus
used the spikes on his back to fight away predators.
He had a double row of plates on his back.
His back was armor-plated. His
tail was tipped with spikes. There
were different kinds of Stegosaurus’. Stegosaurus lived in North America more
than 150 million years ago. Stegosaurus
became extinct during the late Jurassic period.
He was the sharpest thing on Earth!
I just loved learning about him.
