Apatosaurus
By Nicholas - 2A
My
dinosaur’s name is Apatosaurus. I
wonder why my dinosaur’s name was “Deceptive Lizard”? My dinosaur’s size was 70-90 feet long. Its weight is 33-38 tons.
My dinosaur has a long neck, a bulky body and a long whip-like tail.
Its tail can hold eight kids cycling!
My dinosaur has a small mouth and peg-like teeth.
He eats plants, which means he is a herbivore.
The Apatosaurus probably became extinct in the Jurassic period about
157-146 million years ago. It is
taller than its predators. Strangely
the Apatosaurus lived on land and stayed far from large bodies of water and
swamps. Its fossils have been found
in Colorado, Oklahoma, Utah and Wyoming in the U.S.A.
Apatosaurus was one of the biggest animals ever to walk on the earth.
Apatosaurus was longer than two buses.
Apatosaurus was a gentle giant that spent most of its day chomping on
leaves and twigs. Wouldn’t it be
great to meet a real live dinosaur?
