Studio Art is a high school level course for which 8th grade students will receive high school credit.  It is not an honors level class; therefore, student's grades are not weighted.

    In Studio Art students will learn and explore lettering, printmaking, drawing, painting, sculpture, graphics, and perspective.  Students will learn how to use the Elements of Art and Principles of Design in their own work, and will be able to recognize these elements and principles in the master's works.  There will be a comprehensive exam in June.  The exam will consist of academic questions as well as a performance assessment.

    In order to keep up with this advanced class, students may find it necessary to attend extra help.  Students are also encouraged to use the art room during Study Hall periods by arrangement.

    The following supplies are needed for this class:

• An art box - approximate size (13" x 5" x 2").  Spacemaker is the best brand.

• 3 brushes (acrylic/oil) - Large, medium, small

• Notebook - small enough to fit inside the box

• Kneaded eraser

• Fine point felt tip markers (3)

• Hand Sharpener

• Pencils
