    Today: Stepmother and all four stepsisters, Cinderella, Godmother and Godmothers in training.

    Tuesday, 12/6:  Full Cast and Chorus

    Wednesday, 12/7:  King, Queen, Prince, King's Valet and Assistant Valets, Queen's Handmaiden, Head of Household, Prince's Servants.

    Thursday, 12/8 and Friday, 12/9 - No Rehearsal

    TODAY:  The Glee Club will meet after school in B117.   Winter Sports try outs begin today.  Girls Basketball will meet in the E Wing Gym.  Boys Basketball will meet in the B Wing Gym.  Wrestling will meet in the wrestling room.  All students must be cleared by the school nurse in order to participate.

    Wednesday, November 30:  First rehearsals for Cinderella from 3:45 - 5:00 p.m. for all cast and chorus/ensemble.  Rehearsal schedules will be posted here on Fridays for the following week.  If you must miss a rehearsal you have been called for, email Mr. Deming or bring a note to the next rehearsal.  The FFMS Book Club will meet after school in the library extension to discuss The Young Elites by Marie Lu.  All are welcome.

    Attention Onlooker contributors:  We will celebrate the publication of the fall edition of the Onlooker after school on Monday, November 28, in the library extension.  We will have pizza and beverages and look at advance copies of the Onlooker.  You will be out in time for the late bus.

    Tomorrow is the last day to sign up for the first Bookshelf Battle taking place on Tuesday, November 29.  It's not too late to read or brush up on your knowledge of Suzanne Collin's first book in the series, The Hunger Games.  For more details, please see Mrs. Chan or Mrs. Loftus.

    There is NO Ice Hockey practice today.  You will practice tomorrow.  Please be at the rink at 5:45 p.m.

    The Second Quarter begins today.

    South High School Girls Junior Varsity Basketball team tryouts are today at 4:30 p.m., in the South High School Main Gym. 

    Ice Hockey helmets that were handed in for inspection are ready to be picked up in the pool office.  Please see Mr. Butler.

    For 7th and 8th graders planning to try out for a winter sport:  There will be a brief meeting after school on Wednesday, November 16, for those interested in joining the wrestling team, boys basketball team or girls basketball team.  Sign ups are available online and all students must be cleared by the school nurse to try out.

    Gymnastics Tryouts will take place on at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 15, at Rockland Gymnastics in Nanuet.  Athletes should arrange for transportation to and from practice.  Remember to sign up for the sport to obtain medical clearance prior to trying out.

    The Drama Club Call Backs will be Period 4 today on the Drama bulletin board in the music hallway.  There are many talented students who auditioned.  If you are not on the list, you are automatically in the chorus/ensemble.  We know you will have a blast!  For those on the Call Back list, you are assigned to Wednesday, Thursday or Friday of this week.  You will need to stay from 3:45 - 6:00 p.m. on the day you are called, although you may be released early.  If you have a conflict or time issue on the day you are assigned, you must speak to Mr. Deming or Mr. Royal to arrange a change.  Prepre to sing a song from Cinderella for your call back.  Questions?  Speak to Mr. Deming in D104 or email him at mdeming(at)ccsd.edu

    Attention Sixth Graders:  Our third annual Family Math Night will be held on Wednesday, November 16, at 6:30 p.m.  Come join us for an evening of games and puzzles.  There will be a table located outside the cafeterias during Period 5, today and tomorrow, for ticket distribution.  Just bring your filled out permission slip and claim your tickets.  You may also see Mrs. Cohen, Mr. Rose or Mr. Hroncich.  Don't miss out!  Seats are limited -- tickets are given on a first come/first serve basis.  Hope to see you there!

    The Dignity for All Alliance students will meet today after school in B102.  Join us for snacks and a discussion about diversity, raising awareness, and be part of projects that encourage tolerance, acceptance and celebrate our similarities and differences.

    Drama Club News:  Auditions for Cinderella begin this week.  Students should come at the time they signed up for, prepared to sing any song and read a scene we provide.  This production is open to ALL students and everyone who auditions is automatically in the show.  If you are not cast in a named part, you will automatically be cast in the Ensemble to sing, dance and act in small and large groups.  There are some time slots left.  All you have to do is sign up for an audition time and come audition.  NOTE;  All students who are cast, including Chorus/Ensemble, will be called to rehearse an average of twice a week.  Days will rotate to avoid scheduling students with conflicts on the same days each week.  If you have to miss a rehearsal, just bring a note from home to your next scheduled rehearsal.  Once March arrives, we will expect you to be at all rehearsals. Rehearsal attendance is mandatory Tech Week (the week before the show).   If you have questions, please speak to Mr. Deming in D104 or email him at mdeming(at)ccsd.edu

    The Onlooker will have their final optional typing meeting on Wednesday in A211.  If you are not able to attend, please make sure you submit your articles to one of the advisors by November 7.

    The FFMS Book Club will meet after school on Wednesday, November 2, in the library extension to discuss I am Malala, by Malala Yousafzai.  All are welcome.  Please join us!

    YOGA!  Yoga for Festa students will start Friday, November 5, after school in the library.   This program is being offered through the Clarkstown Family Resource Center, for a fee of $78.00.  Aside from the obvious physical benefits of strengthening, stretching and balancing your muscles, yoga offers different coping strategies that help you deal with the unique stressors of middle school.  This six-week course is presented in a safe, supportive space that will keep you smiling, laughing and having a great time, all while creating new friendships and strengthening the ones you already have.  And it's taught by an awesome Festa parent!   If you are interested, please pick up an enrollment form in the A School Office.

    The second annual Festaville Back to School Dance will be held on Friday, November 18, from 7:00 - 8:30 in the Black and White Cafeteria.  This year's theme is Hawaii.  Tickets are $5.00 and will be sold at lunch and after school in B110, beginning today.  Only 200 tickets will be sold.  We hope to see you there!

    The Math Olympiad starts this week.  All meetings are in B100, according to the following schedule:  Grade 6 - Monday, Grade 7 - Tuesday, Grade 8 - Wednesday.   

    The Junior Sports Management Team will meet after school on Wednesday.  Please wear a football jersey, as we will be taking a picture for the yearbook.

    Drama Club News:  It's time to sign up for auditions for Cinderella.  Sign-up sheets are posted on the Drama Club bulletin board outside B115 (in the music hallway).  All you have to do is:

    1. Select what day and time you wish to come.
    2. Write your name in the space next to that time.
    3. Take a Participant Agreement form from the envelope attached to the board
    4. Read the form with a parent/guardian and have them sign it.  You MUST bring this signed form to your audition.
    5. Prepare to sing ANY song at your audition.  You will also read some lines that we prepare.

    Note:  Please PRINT your name on the sign-up sheet.  Do not sign up your friends.  Each student must sign up for their own time.  DO NOT erase or cross out any names.  Only sign up if you plan to audition.  Remember: To be in the show you must audition.  All grades are welcome.  You are automatically in the show if you audition.  Break a Leg!!  Questions?  Email Mr. Deming at mdeming@ccsd.edu

    The FFMS Book Club will meet after school tomorrow in the Library Extension to discuss The Maze Runner by James Dashner.  All are welcome.

    Tomorrow is the first optional typing meeting for the school newspaper, The Onlooker.  Please come to A211 after school to work on your articles.  If you are unable to attend, please submit your article to one of the advisors by November 7.

    The SADD Club will meet after school on Thursday, October 20, in B102, to hang posters and assign duties for our Red Ribbon Week celebration.  New members are always welcome.

    Friday, October 21, is Festa Goes Pink for a Cause.  Wear pink to support the fight against cancer.  Pink accessories will be sold at lunch.  Shirts will be available for pick up outside the cafeterias on Wednesday and Thursday.

    Do you love math? Do you love solving challenging problems?  The Math Olympiad Team will be having an informational meeting for all grades on Thursday, October 13, in B100.  You will be released in time for the Late Bus.

    The PTA will be selling Harlem Wizards tickets on October 13, 19 and 20, outside the cafeteria. 

    REMINDER:  School Pictures will be taken this Thursday and Friday, October 13 and 14.  Your picture will be taken on the day/period of your P.E. class.
