1. Our Task:

Our team has reached a consensus on a theme for our page. We will combine a travel guide theme with an alien theme, in some kind of 'Guide to the World for Extra Terrestrials' (Or perhaps an alien's guide to the world, written by an alien who travels from place to place reporting on our 'strange' customs etc.)

We have discovered that New Zealand is the extreme sports capital of the world (they invented bungee jumping). We even have live video footage of our team leader from England attempting the Nevis Bungee jump in New Zealand.

We can focus on strange inventions, important inventions and other customs from our regions. Our area in the United States is very near to where Thomas Edison invented the light bulb. We can draw it altogether in a travel guide for aliens.

2. Information Seeking Strategies:

This means to collaborate with our team and brainstorm how to do this project.

1.  You can collaborate with our team members in England and New Zealand.  Log in to the Global Virtual Classroom and share your thoughts and ideas with your teammates.  How can we accomplish this task? (10 minutes of today's class time, but you can continue this project at home.)

2.  Use brainstorming software (Inspiration or Cmap Tools) to list ideas for this website.  Save your ideas in the folder  BDAllshare/5th grade GVC/cmaps.

Today brainstorm local inventions or creations an alien might find in New York.  Feel free to search for information using our search tools: Yahooligans, Ebsco, etc.
