Math Skills To Practice By Grade:

 

For students entering 1st Grade:

-       practice writing numerals 1-100

-       math facts

-       patterns

-       shapes

-       making equal groups

-       estimating

-       simple graphs and charting

-       time to the hour

-       money (penny, nickel, dime and quarter- combinations up to 25 cents)

-       word problems

 

For students entering 2nd Grade:

-       math facts

-       comparing and ordering through 100

-       money

-       time

-       place value

-       graphs

-       word problems

-       patterns

-       odd and even numbers

 

For students entering 3rd Grade:

(per 2nd grade math standards)

-       demonstrate fluency facts for addition and subtraction up to (and including) 18

-       skip count to 100 by 2’s, 5’s, 10’s

-       skip count by 3’s to 36 and 4’s to 48 for multiplication readiness

-       compare and order numbers to 100

-       solve addition and subtraction problems using one-and two-digit numbers with and without regrouping

-       know and recognize coins (penny, nickel, dime, quarter) and bills ($1, $5, $10, and $20)

-       identify equivalent combinations to make one dollar

-       tell time to the half hour and five minutes using both digital and analog clocks

 

 

For students entering 4th Grade: 

-    addition and subtraction (0-20, and basic counting patterns – ex. 25, 50, 100, 1,000, etc.)

-    multiplication (0-12)

-    division (Any multiple of 0-12 dividing by their factors)

-    addition and subtraction with regrouping

       -    place value to the 10,000 place

-    money

-    graphs

-    time

-    word problems

 

 

For students entering 5th Grade:

       -    addition and subtraction (0-20, and basic counting patterns – ex. 25, 50, 100, 1,000, etc.)

-    multiplication (0-12)

-    division (Any multiple of 0-12 dividing by their factors)

-       multiplying two digit and three digit numbers

-       measurement, time and money

-       perimeter and area

-       number concepts and place value

-       fractions and decimals

-       geometry (parallel, perpendicular, congruent, similar, types of triangles, types of angles)

-       problem solving
