Martin D. Cox has served in a variety of roles during his twenty seven years in the field of education. He has spent over a decade in leadership positions, most recently serving as the superintendent of the Sodus Central School District, a post he has held since 2012, and before that, as superintendent of Fillmore Central School District. Prior to that appointment, he honed his leadership skills first as an elementary principal and later as a high school principal. He began his career as a primary grade teacher.
Mr. Cox is currently pursuing his doctorate in Educational Leadership. He holds a Certificate of Advance Studies from SUNY Brockport; a Masters in Elementary Education from Nazareth College of Rochester, and a Bachelor of Science in Communications from Ohio University.
All one has to do is watch Mr. Cox walk through any school campus and his love for education and desire to reach every student becomes obvious. He understands the importance of a community that works together to ensure the overall wellness of each child. He also models a healthy lifestyle through his personal engagement in a variety of sports including marathon running, kayaking, swimming, cycling and participation in triathlons.
Mr. Cox and his wife Mary Beth, a registered nurse, have made their home in Clarkstown. They have three children, Hillary, a law school graduate, Kevin, a college senior and Abby, a college sophomore.
